Our policies
How our placement service works, what you pay and when, and what happens if things don't go to plan — in plain words.
1. Our role and placement service
Bali Interns helps international students find suitable internship opportunities in Bali and prepare for their experience on the island.
We act as the placement and support service connecting students with potential host companies. We help you explore opportunities, communicate your preferences, and navigate the placement process.
The host company is responsible for its own workplace, supervision, working arrangements, day-to-day instructions and decisions about the internship. The specific responsibilities of Bali Interns and the host company are set out in the agreements that apply to your placement.
We remain available to give reasonable placement-related support and guidance. We do not control every decision a host company makes, and we cannot guarantee that every workplace experience will be the same.
2. What our service includes
The required package is our internship placement service. It includes an introductory call about your goals, help finding an internship that matches your interests, experience and preferences, sharing interview opportunities, support through the placement process, the Bali Guide and access to the Bali Interns community, as described on the Packages page.
We also help you find information and guidance about life in Bali, including:
- Accommodation options
- Transport and motorcycle rental options
- Visa information and coordination with a visa-support agency
- SIM cards and eSIMs
- Driving licence information
- Community group chats
- Local activities, events, trips and opportunities to meet other interns
Guidance, introductions and coordination are not the same as providing a service ourselves. When we arrange a service with a third-party provider, that provider delivers it, and we cannot guarantee its availability, quality or outcome.
3. Optional services and third-party costs
Accommodation, transport, visa-related services, driving licences, insurance, tickets, events, activities and other third-party products or services are not included in the €250 placement package unless we explicitly tell you otherwise in writing.
When you ask us to arrange an optional service, it works like this:
- You request the service through Bali Interns.
- We confirm the applicable quote and payment instructions before you decide.
- If you go ahead, you pay Bali Interns.
- We coordinate with the provider and pay them on your behalf so they can deliver the service.
Prices shown on our website are indicative; your quote is confirmed before you proceed. Provider availability, eligibility, the provider's own terms and any service-specific requirements still apply. Nothing is booked, and no payment is passed to a provider, until we have confirmed it with you.
You are free to use other providers. You don't have to buy any optional service through Bali Interns.
The amount you pay for an optional service is separate from the €250 placement package (€100 deposit + €150 final payment), and we will always show the two separately.
Needs review: Now that optional-service payments go through Bali Interns: confirm whether any coordination fee is added to provider prices, and how cancellations are handled once a payment has been passed to the provider (see "Optional services" in section 6).
See additional services for the options we can help with.
4. Package price and payment terms
The placement package costs €250 in total, paid in two parts:
- Apply — free. Submitting an application costs nothing and is not a payment or a commitment.
- Initial deposit: €100. Due when you confirm you want to go ahead with the placement service. We send you the payment details at that point.
- Placement search. We work on securing a suitable internship for you.
- Final payment: €150. Due after your placement has been confirmed and the relevant internship contract has been signed.
The deposit can be refunded in the circumstances described in the refund policy below.
Paying in Indonesian rupiah
Our prices are in euros, but online payments through our payment provider, Midtrans, are charged in Indonesian rupiah (IDR). We convert using the European Central Bank reference rate plus a 2% conversion margin, and round to the nearest whole rupiah. Before you pay, you see the reference rate and its date, the margin, the rate used, the euro amount and the exact rupiah amount, which stays fixed for 30 minutes. Your bank or card provider may charge its own fees.
Needs review: Confirm the accepted payment methods and who pays any bank or transfer fees.
5. Placement timeline and one-month review
- Apply for free and have an introductory conversation with us.
- Pay the €100 deposit when you choose to proceed; we then begin the placement search.
- The initial search period is up to one month from when your deposit is received. During this time we work to identify suitable opportunities and share interview opportunities with you. Finding your placement within this first month is our aim, not a guarantee: timing depends on your preferences, qualifications and availability, and on demand from host companies.
- If no placement has been found by the end of the first month, we talk it through with you and you choose either a refund or one additional month of searching.
- If you chose the extra month and no placement has been found by its end, the applicable refund is issued promptly.
We will never extend the search without your agreement. If you choose to continue, we will record your decision in writing and confirm the new end date.
Needs review: Confirm when the one-month period starts (deposit received, or a completed intake call?), what counts as a "suitable" placement, and how many days "promptly" means so the refund timing can be stated precisely.
6. Refund policy
The exact conditions of the placement guarantee and refund process are explained to you before you pay. In summary:
If we can't find you a placement
If no placement has been found by the end of the first month, you can choose a refund instead of an extra month of searching. If you chose the extra month and no placement is found by its end, the applicable refund is issued promptly. See section 5.
Needs review: Confirm whether this refund is the full €100 deposit, and how long refunds take to process.
If you decide to stop early
If you decide to stop before the agreed search period ends, please tell us in writing. We will assess any refund request under the terms agreed with you before payment, taking into account the work already done on your placement.
Needs review: Decide how an early-stop refund is assessed (for example, a fixed amount or a proportion of the deposit) so it can be stated clearly. No blanket refund or blanket forfeiture is promised here.
After you accept a placement
Once you accept a suitable placement, sign the relevant contract and pay the remaining balance, the placement service has been delivered according to the agreed process. A later change of mind does not by itself entitle you to a refund.
If a placement ends because of your conduct
If you lose a placement because of misconduct, a breach of the host company's rules or other conduct attributable to you, Bali Interns is not automatically responsible for the host company's decision and does not guarantee a refund.
Where feasible, we may help you explore another placement. This is not guaranteed and may involve a new placement fee. We will tell you about any fee and ask for your agreement before starting a new paid search.
Needs review: Decide the amount of any new placement fee, or remove this sentence.
Optional services
Optional services are separate from the placement package. Once we have passed your payment to a provider, cancellations and refunds follow that provider's own policy. We will tell you the relevant terms before you pay.
Needs review: Decide what happens if a student cancels an optional service before Bali Interns has paid the provider (for example, a full refund) so it can be stated here.
Purchases you make directly with other providers (for example tickets or activities you book yourself) are subject to those providers' cancellation and refund policies.
7. Contracts and responsibilities
Depending on the host company's and your university's requirements, your placement may involve a contract from the host company, a placement agreement from Bali Interns, university documentation, or more than one of these. Not every student receives the same contract — we confirm the relevant documents for each placement.
As an intern, you are responsible for:
- understanding and following your agreements;
- complying with the host company's reasonable workplace rules;
- behaving professionally; and
- raising concerns promptly.
If problems come up, we can offer reasonable guidance and support, but we cannot guarantee a particular outcome or override a host company's decisions.
Needs review: Prepare the Bali Interns placement agreement these policies refer to, and check that both documents say the same thing.
8. Visas and immigration
You must obtain and keep the correct visa or immigration authorisation for your activities in Indonesia. A tourist visa does not permit you to do an internship.
Before starting your internship, please check the requirements that apply to you with the relevant Indonesian authorities or a qualified immigration professional.
We can help you access information and coordinate with a visa-support agency, but this does not guarantee approval, and Bali Interns does not give legal immigration advice. You remain responsible for making sure your travel and internship arrangements meet the applicable requirements.
9. Support, communication and complaints
If you need advice, information or help with your Bali experience, please get in touch. We will make reasonable efforts to point you to the right resources and help with placement-related concerns. Workplace matters should also be raised with your host company where appropriate.
We cannot control external providers, guarantee accommodation or transport availability, or resolve every workplace dispute — but we will always listen and help where we reasonably can.
Contact us at info@baliliving.id or on WhatsApp at +62 823-3956-7464.
Needs review: Decide how formal complaints are handled (who reviews them and how quickly you reply). Add the legal business name and registration details here once confirmed, and have the full page reviewed by a qualified Indonesian legal professional before publishing.
